From The Introduction

Yosemite National Park is my favorite place on planet earth. There is something grounding and humbling about being in a place that hasn’t really changed in the last thousand years. It makes me feel gloriously small. Its cliff faces still tower over the world’s tallest buildings. It hosts some of the world’s tallest waterfalls. Yosemite truly declares the majesty of our Creator. For believers, this world is not our forever home. As the Apostle Peter reminds us, we are exiles living in a foreign land and life often reminds us of that in difficult ways. Yosemite’s a place that I would often retreat to whenever I would feel the pains of living in exile. Escaping to this cathedral of nature served as a reset and reminder that my problems, pain, and struggles are all temporary. My heart would refocus on God’s glory when I surrounded myself with his majesty on display in such grand fashion. Whenever I think about the New Heaven and New Earth, my imagination can’t help but picture Yosemite.

I am by no means a professional photographer. In fact, all of the pictures in this book I took on my phone. But it’s my hope and prayer that they can serve you by offering a glimpse of the grandeur and majesty of God. When you look at these pictures marvel at the place, but let the place be an arrow that points you to a God who loves you so much that he gave his life for you. Let this timeless location remind you that your forever home IS secure and all the pain of this life will be wiped away forever. When you feel burdened and overwhelmed, I pray this will be a simple tool that pulls your gaze up, up towards the God who created this marvelous place, but says you are created in his image.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD
in the splendor of his holiness.
Psalm 29:2
